Eagle Eye
July 1st, 2011Imagine yourself with about 10 different projects looming on your desk… just waiting for you. You are driven to complete every single one of them to the best of your ability, but the hours each day has to offer are just not enough. No sense in trying to be a superhero right? One morning, a coworker comes in and offers to help lift the load by taking one of the projects to do themselves. Aware of the situation, you hesitantly agree. Now, do you completely release this into their hands and trust in their ability to fulfill the task? Or are you going to keep a watchful eye and track every move they make to make sure that it is done the way you want?
If you say you trust someone to carry out a task, but then keep a close eye like described above, you really aren’t placing your trust in them. Complete trust gives it all away without looking back. When Jesus called His disciples, they followed Him without turning back (Matthew 9:9). When we place our lives in the hands of the almighty God, we need to trust Him that He will save us, set us free and lead us through troubling times. We can’t walk the line on this. If He says He will do it, trust Him. He never changes His mind, and His promises are everlasting. Even when we do not understand, trust Him. Psalm 118:8 says, “It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.” This includes you yourself. Louie Giglio, pastor of Passion City Church in Atlanta, said this the other day: “To say I believe in Jesus and not rely on Him is really saying I believe in me.”
Who are you relying on? My challenge to you is to stop trying to make things fall into place. Stop trying to make things happen exactly the way you want it. Let go and let God move in your life. You will be pleasantly surprised.
“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.” Isaiah 26:3
