It has been very hot in Texas. I'm thankful to God that the heavens rained down yesterday and we pray for more! However, speaking for the last few weeks, it has not only been hot, but parched. If you live here you know what I mean! When brown becomes the new green. Wild fire warnings flash as you drive down the highways. The ground was thirsting! I was thirsting! So… of course this gets one to think, about nothing other than, water.  When you have it, you don’t think about it. When you don’t have it, it’s all you can think about it. So naturally, when reading the Bible last I thought about water. I looked up scriptures about being thirsty and the one that stuck out to me most today was Matthew 10:42. It reads:

“And if you give even a cup of cold water to one of the least of my followers, you will surely be rewarded.”

Now this may not jump out at you at first, but hear this. Our souls are always thirsting. When someone is most in need of rescue, as a Christian, I know in my heart that the thing that they need most is Jesus, the Living Water, so that they may never thirst again (John 4:13-14). But what will lead them there? This is where the above passage fits in. It is in our actions. How loudly does a cup of cold water on a hot day speak?  When you show Jesus to someone else by giving like Jesus does, they get a taste of Him, and your reward is in heaven. Do not think that the little things do not matter to God and to those around you. One act of kindness, one act of service towards someone else may mean more than an hour-long sermon (Not that there is anything wrong with that!). So, don’t move too quickly that you miss out on an opportunity to make an impact even in the smallest way.

We can make a difference today, one cup of cold water at a time. Cheers.
