One thing that has always tugged at my heart is a desire to make a difference, even in the smallest way. Over the years I have learned, sometimes the hard way, that in order for anything to be truly successful, you have to put yourself on the back-burner, put others first and just let God move through you! An extraordinary life begins with getting outside yourself; after all, who wants to be ordinary?
At Creative Outreach, our ministry is the expression of a spiritual journey. What began, in 1991, as the heartfelt message of Christ’s love on the streets of Conroe, Texas, is now a multi-faceted, 501(c)3 organization—but the message will never change. We still arrive at work each morning with a burden—a joyful burden—to reach the lost. We still operate as He guides us, taking His love and compassion to our community every day.
Many of you may think of us only as a resale shop for donated clothing, but the heart of this ministry goes much deeper; we want God to express Himself through us every day. Our resale shop has been the face of this ministry, and recent renovations (almost 90% complete!) will make it even more accessible to the community. But, our vision for Angelic Resale has always been one of stewardship and practicality—your donations go to community members in need, and generate money to help fund our other programs that are changing lives every day.
Here are just a few examples:
- Jail Ministry: we are taking our New Life curriculum into the local county jail serving several groups of inmates each and every week.
- Emergency Assistance: providing food, clothes, and household items to people facing dire circumstances.
- School Assistance: working with the Conroe Independent School District, COM provides school clothes and food to children in need and their families.
- Christmas Assistance: in celebration of our Savior’s birth, every year we are reaching out with the love of Christ with food, clothes, and toys.
- Churches Responding to Crisis: Creative Outreach has been teaming up with local churches providing financial assistance for rent, utilities, and medical emergencies, since 2002.
Even now, as I write this, I struggle to narrow down the mile-long list of exciting things God is doing through Creative Outreach Ministries. Our goal is to connect our spiritual journey with yours. We desire to be a conduit for His love, a good steward spreading your donations to a community that depends upon us for a host of services, from basic provisions to education and advancement.
We want you to think of us when you feel that joyful burden for the lost, the hurt, and the broken. After all, our growth is not our own: it’s your donations that support us, your donations that are meeting the needs in Conroe, Texas.
