“After listening to the king, they went on their way. And behold, the star that they had seen when it rose went before them until it came to rest over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy. And going into the house they saw the child with Mary his mother, and they fell down and worshiped Him. Then, opening their treasures, they offered Him gifts, gold and frankincense and myrrh.” Matthew 2:9-11
In God’s infinite wisdom He guided those who were wise on this earth to bow before a baby; to bow before a King and receive a joy like no other. The three wise men walked through the night, guided by the brightest star so they could come and worship Jesus. When they found Him, their joy was so great they could do nothing else but fall at His feet in worship and bring Him treasured gifts.
What joy He will fill us with when we also allow Him to guide us! We each have a shining star before us, ready to show us the way to receiving that same joy through a relationship with Jesus Christ. It is a light that never burns out no matter what we’ve been through, and if we shift our eyes to the sky we will see it there shining above all of our struggles and fears, ready to lead us to a Savior.
All is calm, all is bright in the presence of Jesus. Holy, beautiful, magnificent joy awaits us there. If we would just come and fall on our knees before Him, offering Him the greatest gift we can give—a life of love, dedication and obedience to Him—we will be filled completely with this joy!
