It’s a big world. 7 billion people and counting makes it very easy to feel small. Most of us don’t think about ourselves as being one in 7 billion. We probably narrow down our world to ourselves and those closest to us, and the other billions of people fade away in the background. Reminding ourselves that there are so many others does give us perspective on the size of God’s reach in our world. It’s humbling to know that He moves past the numbers and narrows down His sights to each one of us, individually, caring about our situations, our purpose and everyday lives.
This is why it is so important to know who you are. If you don’t know who you are, chances are you will just blend into the billions. Knowing who you are and what you stand for is the key to standing out like God intended you to! He needs people who are confident in who He made them to be, standing firm in what and in Whom they believe.
So, there are billions of others, and sadly, there are billions who do not know about God’s love. If we shift our perspective from our little world and begin to become more community minded, God can and will use each one of us. No, you’re probably not going to reach a billion people for God, but He has a specific purpose for you where you are to reach those around you—starting with your family.
Together as Christians we can all make a big difference if we start where we’re at. Know who you are, because there are so many lives who are counting on you for eternity!
