DEALING WITH ADVERSITY TO YOUR VISION
Adversity will always rear its ugly head right in the middle of you fulfilling your goals. This blog, “Dealing With Adversity,” will help you navigate problems that arise as you push to find and fulfill your God-given vision.
The enemy has one agenda:
To stop God’s plan from being fulfilled.
Satan knows that you are a threat to him and his works.
He despises you as much as he does Jesus because you are a duplicate of Christ and can do what God has assigned you to do.
It is imperative that we do not get perplexed at the first sign of adversity.
When dealing with adversity, your attitude will make you or break you.
Attitude is a position you take because of your reaction to a situation.
The most significant part of our happiness or misery depends on our dispositions and not on our circumstances.
Let us have the positive attitude that “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” Philippians 4:13.
At a conference, a speaker said, “Life is 10 percent of what happens to us and 90 percent how we respond to it.”
There will always be circumstances that you did not anticipate.
WHEN DEALING WITH ADVERSITY, YOU WILL EITHER REACT TO THE PROBLEM OR ACT IN FAITH.
Our reaction is spontaneous. It is like when something startles you; the first reaction is fear. Something out of the dark or the unknown causes sudden, overwhelming thoughts.
Peter experienced this one night on a stormy sea. The storm was raging and tossing large, destructive waves of water that could have destroyed all that was in the boat.
But Jesus came walking on the water, defying the storm.
Peter saw Him and desired to get out of the boat and walk to Him. Jesus responded and said.” Come.” Without hesitation, Peter stepped over the rail and began walking on top of the waves, just like Jesus.
But then he took his eyes off Jesus and saw the tumultuous waves, became afraid, and began to sink. But immediately, he called on the Lord, and Jesus reached out his hand and lifted Peter above the waves, and they walked back to the boat.
The way we react or act determines our victory.
“Fear not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will work for you today. The enemy you see today, you shall never see again.” Exodus 14:13
This scripture declares that fear is not our option, but faith and resting on God’s promises is the answer to dealing with adversity.
Every problem has a limited lifespan. No problem is permanent.
Every mountain has a peak. Every valley has its low point.
Life has its ups and downs, its peaks, and its valleys.
Problems do end. Storms always give way to the sun.
Winter always thaws into springtime.
Your problem will be resolved, and YOUR STORM WILL PASS!
When wisdom fails, when strength is no more, and when the enemy seems to have you in his sights, know that God is on him, and you will prevail.
There are three things about dealing with adversity that you should consider.
1. CIRCUMSTANCES THAT TURN AGAINST US FORCE DEPENDENCE
You are humbled when you find yourself in a situation that suddenly hurls you in a direction you did not want it to go.
Circumstances can force us to depend upon the Lord,
where God needs us to be.
His wise approach is to keep you within His protection and provision circle. It is usually in these adverse circumstances that we discover what is inside our spirits.
2. CIRCUMSTANCES THAT FORCE DEPENDENCE TEACH US PATIENCE WHILE DEALING WITH ADVERSITY
Oh, that dreaded word “patience,” but how we all need it.
Most of us pray for patience and want it yesterday. We learn to wait for the Lord’s perfect timing in this dependent position.
Our life does not produce patience by thinking, “I will be patient.”
We learn patience.
Patience is earned when we decide to stand on the Word of God and go forward in life, not allowing the circumstances to make us adaptable to defeat.
“And we also glory in tribulations (testing), knowing that tribulation (testing) produces perseverance (patience).” Romans 5:3
3. CIRCUMSTANCES THAT TEACH US PATIENCE MAKE US WISE
Wisdom becomes the gold crown of our adverse circumstances.
When dealing with adversity, the wisdom we glean from our experiences and our testing of the Lord’s promises will stay with us and bless us for the rest of our lives.
When dealing with adversity, maturity is evident as we walk in the wisdom we have learned.
When we attain wisdom, the circumstances we face today will not have the chance to reappear in our lives because we now recognize them and have the solution to the problem.
Solomon said in the Book of Proverbs, “Wisdom is the principal thing, therefore get wisdom: and with all your getting get understanding.” Proverbs 4:7
Circumstances should never be the regulator of our peace and joy.
Circumstances are only temporary. They are always subject to change.
Speaking the “Word” to them changes them.
Learn to be thankful and to praise God in the circumstances.
We do not thank God for the problem, sickness, or lack, but we are to have a grateful spirit amid the circumstances. We are to thank God that He is Jehovah and that He is more than enough for whatever we are facing, and He will bring us through to victory.
“Thank God in everything, no matter the circumstances; be thankful and give thanks. For this is the will of God for you who are in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (Amplified)
When dealing with adversity, know that God is changing you and your attitude, and the circumstances will change for your good ❤️
