Giving thanks is way more than just a “thing” we do once a year when November rolls around; it is supposed to be the pattern of a Christian’s life. Just as a pattern repeats itself over and over, so should our mindset of thankfulness! That means giving thanks in everything, no matter what.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 says, ”Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.”
In every hardship, in every triumph, be thankful! The troubles we endure have a purpose just as the times of peace do, because we are given an opportunity to display the reality of Jesus to everyone in our lives.
God can’t use “on-again, off-again” Christians to reach others. Up when life is up and down when life is down. A consistency of joy and thankfulness will completely transform your outlook and is sure to minister to those around you. You will have a secret inner strength that cannot be stripped away by anyone or any circumstance!
You may wonder, “How is it possible to be thankful when I am in pain, heartbroken or suffering?” Think about the mother enduring so much pain when giving birth. Can she be thankful for the pain? Yes, because she knows the end result of that pain is a beautiful new life.
As long as you look to the end result of any situation, you can find reason to be thankful while you are in it!
