What do you want to be known for?
At some point, we all must accept that life here on this earth does not last forever. We will all encounter the day when it is our time to leave. It’s not to sound morbid, but it is reality.
The quicker you acknowledge this fact the better, so you will begin to think about your legacy and what you are leaving behind. You must think about your priorities in life, and what sort of impact those priorities have on your eternity.
Living for yourself will only bring you temporary gains here on earth, which disappear once you’re gone.
The greatest thing you can do for yourself in this moment is to honestly think about what is most important in your life right now. Is it things, status, fame or comfort? It could also be surviving the day-to-day, getting through this trial or accomplishing that task.
It’s a profound revelation when you realize life is not just about the here and now, it’s about the after and forever too. So are you being nearsighted or farsighted?
Each and every day you’re building toward your legacy, and it’s up to you to either make a lasting imprint or a fading mark. When you really think about it, God and people start to become more and more important.
It’s your legacy, it’s your choice—how do you want to be remembered?
“But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” Matthew 6:20-21
