How do we measure success? By having things other people don’t? Does our success bring more people to God, or are we not the greatest example of a follower of God? The Bible has a lot to say about success and the right way to measure it, and how to bring more people closer to God by the way we live:

1. Finding humility when we succeed:

• “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will exalt you.”
James 4:10

• “My son, do not forget my teaching, but let your heart keep my commandments, for length of days and years of life and peace they will add to you. Let not steadfast love and faithfulness forsake you; bind them around your neck; write them on the tablet of your heart. So you will find favor and good success in the sight of God and man.”
Proverbs 3:1-4

• “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world and forfeits his soul? Or what shall a man give in return for his soul?”
Matthew 16:26

2. Our success is not for us:

• “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”
Ephesians 4:32

• “The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed.”
Proverbs 11:25

• “Those who give to the poor will lack nothing, but those who close their eyes to them receive many curses.”
Proverbs 28:27

Success is not just a career achievement or having “stuff.” Success is bringing others into the knowledge of Jesus Christ, and seizing opportunities to influence others so Gods work can rise. You can transform the world if you use your success for the right cause and be a testimony of God!
