“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you. For I am the Lord your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savior…”
Notice this scripture says “when” you pass through the waters, the rivers and the fire, not “if.” It is guaranteed we will have struggles and tough times that will bring along with them opportunity to fear. Fear of getting wet, fear of drowning and fear of the fire’s heat.
When you are looking out at the water, not knowing how deep it is or how fast the current is, it’s easy to let fear of the unknown take over. We try to predict all of the various outcomes and make plans to get through to the other side. In fact, we try to take control with our fears at the forefront without recognizing God’s presence in our situation and His power to pull us through.
All along the way God is with us. We will get wet, but He is near; we will feel the fire, but we are not alone.
Set aside your fears and the need to control the situation. Step out in blind obedience and unswerving faith—He will cover you and fight for you! A heart that trusts God is a heart that triumphs over fear. Have courage. Have faith. Allow His peace to rule in you!
“The Lord says, ‘I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them.’” Psalm 91:14-15
