Some short-term effects are headaches, fatigue, irritability, difficulty concentrating and sleeping. Over time, the wear and tear gets worse causing more serious problems: high blood pressure, heart disease, depression and more.

Stress that leads to health problems are not God’s intention for our lives. In fact the Bible instructs us to give our burdens over to God in Psalm 55:22 “Cast your cares on the LORD and He will sustain you; He will never let the righteous be shaken.”

He does not want us to live under the control of stress! He wants us to take care of ourselves in turning to Him in prayer and reading the Bible. Here are a few scriptural stress busters that will encourage you:

Philippians 4:6-7 “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Matthew 11:28-30 “Then Jesus said, “Come to Me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you. Let Me teach you, because I am humble and gentle, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke fits perfectly, and the burden I give you is light.”

John 14:27 “I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give isn’t like the peace the world gives. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”

Psalm 4:8 “I will lie down in peace and sleep, for You alone, O LORD, will keep me safe.”
