Unity brings excitement when paths are aligned. We gravitate towards people and things that have similar interests and goals that we do, and that is on major reason why we can make deep lasting connections to one another. The reason at the root of why most relationships fail is division. Division in goals, priorities, mindsets and ambitions.
In a relationship where two people want different things, things will start to tear apart. Division is the place where bitterness and strife begin to leak in. A vehicle cannot travel down two separate paths at the same time. It just doesn’t work.
Does that mean we give up when we notice some misalignment in our relationships? No! All relationships take work to be meaningful and stable. The best of all relationships go through tough times and come out stronger than before!
What we need to do instead is have honest conversation to reevaluate the path that the relationship is on and willingness to admit mistakes and make sacrifices where it is needed.
When the destination is the same, there is more excitement along the ride. There is motivation to push each other forward and to be there for one another when we face disappointments. There is purpose and joy in unity; strength and peace in harmony.
“How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” Psalm 133:1
