Unity is the message of Christ, and unity brings the message of Christ.
When we as believers are unified in love and purpose, we bring the message of Christ to the world.
“‘I am praying not only for these disciples but also for all who will ever believe in Me through their message. I pray that they will all be one, just as You and I are one—as You are in Me, Father, and I am in You. And may they be in Us so that the world will believe You sent Me. I have given them the glory You gave Me, so they may be one as We are one. I am in them and You are in Me. May they experience such perfect unity that the world will know that You sent Me and that You love them as much as You love Me.’” John 17:20-23
Your life is a witness to those around you! How incredible is it to know that God loves us as much as He loves His Son, Jesus Christ! How beautiful is it to know that He wants to be unified with us as He is with Christ. Our responsibility is to live in such a way that others may know the saving message of Christ.
However, if we are divided as believers, we block the true message of salvation and eternity. We send a message that pushes away rather than invites. We don’t accomplish anything when we are not unified, much less the call of God on our lives.
Whatever differences we may have, whatever arguments come to surface, we all must remember that we are carrying a message powerful to save the world, and it must be handled with honor and great responsibility.
Our time on Earth is fleeting, and there are so many that need to hear about God’s love and grace, and the salvation that is available to them through Jesus. We must come together and walk in a way that honors what we have been given and sends the Word out!
