 Treasure Hunters

“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
Matthew 6:21

Money is a hard subject, whether you have it or not. It is of course essential in life, but it’s when it becomes our focal point that it becomes dangerous. It can steal your dreams and passions, it can steal your joy and time, it can completely take over your life. If you have money, your lifestyle can be overtaken by the material possessions you can obtain. If you don’t have money, your lifestyle can be overtaken by the material possessions you can’t obtain. Many people lose these days because their focus doesn’t match what God has in store for them. When we are misguided this way we truly miss out, and instead of being an instrument of God we simply become treasure hunters.

These temporary treasures are empty and will never fill our lives in the way we might expect. They don’t bring lasting meaning, happiness or fulfillment, and we certainly can’t take them with us when we leave this world.

There is something else though, when we decide to align with God, He becomes our focus and our treasure. Money no longer defines us, and we can trust Him for all our needs—He will always come through! When we choose God’s side we choose the winning side! Keep your heart pure and hungry for God, and no matter if you have much or little, use it all to serve Him.

“No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.”
Romans 8:37
