God speaks at all times; He speaks in many ways. However, He doesn’t always speak in the way or time we expect or want.
It would be great if He would speak in a loud and clear audible voice every time we ask a question, wouldn’t it? But, if that were true we’d lose the necessary element of faith.
It would be great if when we seek guidance we would see the answer written in the clouds, wouldn’t it? But, then we wouldn’t be required to seek the face of God and spend time with Him for clarity and direction.
No, our relationship would be an ask-and-answer, Google-type exchange, with nothing required of us at all. We wouldn’t want that type of relationship with our spouse, children or friends! God doesn’t want that kind of relationship with us.
To hear His voice requires patience, time and trust. It requires faith when we can’t hear with our ears, and the realization that sometimes God speaks the loudest in a still small voice. He speaks through the Holy Spirit; He speaks through peace and confirmation.
Trusting Him on a new level will open your ears and heart to what He is saying. Spending time investing in your relationship with Him opens up the lines of communication. God is always interested in speaking to you, have faith that He will answer when the time is right, and let Him fill your heart with peace.
“But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.” John 14:26-27
