No is a pretty powerful little word, but sometimes it is hard to say. A balanced life is one that values time, effort and priorities. That means also balancing your Yes’s and your No’s. Know when to say no, and know when to say yes.
You may be the type of person that is eager to please everyone. You tend to say yes despite what you know to be right, or what you know your time will allow. Your yes really means no, but you don’t want to disappoint, so you end up spreading yourself thin trying to accommodate. This will always tip you off the balance beam.
On the contrary, you may be the type that doesn’t have a problem saying no—and maybe do it a little too often. Saying no all of the time without regard to others that genuinely do need help will turn your world inward to self, self, self… That tightrope you’re on is swaying.
Matthew 5:37 tells us to let our yes be yes and our no be no. With all of the tasks we encounter on a day to day basis, we need to be sure of what we are saying and we need to really mean what we say. When you say yes, own it. When you say no, own it!
Life will always have a little bit of this, a little bit of that; good vs bad; yes vs no. It’s your job to weigh out the options and choose what you let in and what you contribute. Searching the face of God daily will give you clarity and confidence in making the best decisions that lead to a balanced and fulfilling life! Seek Him out with the little decisions and the big ones; let Him know He is your priority and He will give you limitless wisdom.
“Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her. Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her; those who hold her fast will be blessed.”
